I worked at U.S. Security Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Can work shifts anytime 24-7 depending on what you need to work.

    Cons

Have to pay for your own background check.
Have to pay for your own drug test.
Difficult to receive compensation for uniforms.
Scheduling is inconsistent and changes within the week the schedule is.
Hard to get 40 hours a week.
Boss and other employees do not speak or dress in uniform and a professional manner.

    Advice to Management

Please have leadership that reflects USSA in a positive light. There needs to be consistent scheduling and a professional look. A security guard with no weapon or way of defense only has their uniform, and when that is not even worn, there is no deterrence or other line of defense.

    Cons

Not a lot of organization...hard to get a supervisor to respect your availability preferences.

    Advice to Management

Someone needs to get this organized.

I have been working at U.S. Security Associates part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-It is easy to get hired.
-Pay rate is minimum, but for starters it is fine in my opinion.

    Cons

I have been working on the same client site for 9 months only 12 hours per week. I have been patient because I enjoy my work and my site, but I see no future with this company. I have survived because I have covered others and taking those on-call jobs as much as I can, but plenty of times I am stuck with 12 hours only. I have known other S.O. who are working 2 jobs because this company does not offer enough hours. I have not being shy about this and have let them known at least 3 times during these 9 months I would be happy to work another site or at least get more calls. However, they have told me there is no work. That does not make sense to me because I sometimes go to their office when I have something to do there, and they are hiring new officers. If there's no work, then why are you constantly hiring? Also, they don't take in consideration your time or who you are. At least in my experience, even though I have accepted most on-call jobs, I also had times I can't but they seem to get mad on the phone when you tell you can't take the job.

    Advice to Management

Treat your officers better. I wouldn't say exactly lie, but I cannot find the right word for it. Hiring a lot but not giving enough hours to yours officers is not good especially when you tell your officers there is no work.

I worked at U.S. Security Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is reasonable for the work. There is always work to be done.

    Cons

Paperwork often misplaced; you may have to fill them out over and over again. State regulations broken a number of times in regards to firearms. Firearm training was an absolute joke; one of our guards literally shot the light box and still got certified. Regional management was negligent to a dangerous level, but they have issues filling positions across the board.

    Advice to Management

Hire more competent supervisors. Lost documents and missing hours everywhere.

The management in the stores that are contracted need to be trained in apprehensions so that subjects won't see who is watching them.

    Pros

    Easy job great co workers.

    Cons

When you take a vacation you get the pay at the beginning of the next year. Meaning if you took a vacation in July of 2015 you will not see that pay until January of 2016. You only can take a paid vacation if you have over 2,800 hours. If you leave the company and you still have all those hours left they won't pay you for them.

    Advice to Management

    Change your vacation policy!!!!!

I worked at U.S. Security Associates full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Once you are established as a reliable, consistent, cooperative member of the security personnel you will find the position rewarding. Your supervisor and fellow officers are important to you personally as you look out for each other throughout your assigned shifts.

    Cons

It it not easy to adjust to Graveyard shifts if you are a morning person. Often times you will be required to stand Post past your shift time when the relieving guard is late or has called off. Be cautious of keeping your own personal account of the hours you've worked and at what amount you are to be paid. Mistakes are often made where you will be shorted the amount due to you.

    Advice to Management

Be aware of the officers who are dedicated to the job and take care of them. Your worst enemies are guards who are unhappy and don't show up for their shifts. Follow the stated rules for termination of those guards immediately. Enforce the rules so the officers who are dedicated aren't left covering shifts and feeling as those they are being punished and unfairly treated.
