I have been working at U.S. Trust full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Lots of smart, motivated coworkers to interact with. Many team members truly care about clients. Solid investment platform.

    Cons

Management issues galore. Refusal to hire to address capacity constraints leads to TOs and PMs with way too many clients and no way to properly service them. Not enough support staff yet lots of layers of management. Pay not commensurate with performance or market rates. Sales incentives for new business go to a pool and get paid out at manager's discretion to their favorites. Yet another management reorganization was just announced which seems to change nothing.

    I worked at U.S. Trust

    Pros

Good investment content, solid investment platform

    Cons

US Trust will never win the appropriate attention needed to grow due to the executive level love affair with Merrill Lynch. Merrilly Lynch is the tail that wags the dog within GWIM (global wealth investment management).

I have been working at U.S. Trust

    Pros

US Trust is a decent resume builder for younger employees.

    Cons

Downsides: Comp is approximately 2/3 of market, accounts are managed like a factory, constant reorgs, management comprised of commercial banking rejects - leads to on the job training at senior positions. US Trust employees also spend too much time on administrative and useless tasks. Once a month we receive another spreadsheet to fill out with client data for another useless project. We assume this nonsense helps to keep a number crunching manager employed.
