I worked at UBS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

UBS has phenomenal branding and content for business development purposes. Its intranet was the best of any company I've worked for.

    Cons

There are many reasons why UBS may not be a fit for over achievers. Mediocrity and complacency are embraced at all levels.

    Advice to Management

Identify disruptors and agents of change in low-performing areas, and listen to their ideas. Perform a deep-dive into low-performing areas and adjust objectives, targets, etc.

I worked at UBS as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Smart people, global vision, strong brand.

    Cons

Lack of marketing resources, constant fire drills, no formal onboarding process. Work environment is extremely stressful. This is a Sales-led organization.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your contractors. Hire them when they perform if you respect them. Don't string them along for years with false hope that they will become full-time "when you have the headcount."

I worked at UBS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coming straight out of college, this is a good paying job. Also, this was a free ticket to get to New York City

    Cons

The Middle Office is where ambition goes to die. If you're looking for a job where you fix other people's mistakes all day long, run the same reports every single day, at the same time, are surrounded by people that hate management and frequently and loudly speak ill of the company, then this is the place for you.

If you're interested in working with and learning from motivated, happy individuals, steer clear of the Middle Office completely and UBS ESPECIALLY.

In the year that I was there, 12 people voluntarily left my team, 10 of which left the company. Turnover here is about 75-80%
