I worked at UBS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    -Vacation and benefits are great!
-Great work culture and schedule flexibility.
-Depending on department and managers, you may be able to learn a great deal and actually feel a sense of accomplishment.

    Cons

-Sometimes you are on your own in decision-making and it seems as if no one wants to take responsibility for their own actions. It's difficult to work as a team when certain individuals aren't cooperating.
-It's hard to move up and people tend to stay in the same rank.

I worked at UBS as an intern

    Pros

Learned about the different investment vehicles within the financial markets and how to make them best fit within each investors portfolio.

You get out what you put in. If you are not a self starter, the financial industry is not for you since most compensations are commission based.

I worked at UBS full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The management team was effective and looked to provide opportunity from within the office. The office culture was professional and friendly.

    Cons

Working with financial advisors often involves managing an ego. Although necessary to succeed, that ego can also be a hinderance to improving client service or work satisfaction for others. If you decide to work with an advisor, be sure your personalities mesh.

    Advice to Management

Although I understand that advisors are a lifeblood of the wealth management business, there are so many ancillary staff that contribute to the growth of a book of business. I find often advisors act as a stick in the spokes to assistants and other team members acquiring additional education or taking on larger roles .
