I have been working at UBS full-time

    Pros

work life balance, full empowerment, work with global colleagues

    Cons

lack of learning opportunities within the firm, due to cost issues, the firm may not be willing to support external training. Due to cost reductions, the firm is heavily offshoring the standard duties to low cost locations.

I worked at UBS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great for workplace diversity, really put their money where their mouth is. A lot of effort is put into recruiting and growing the grad talent.

    Cons

Except for some key client facing/innovation areas, IT is the center for cost cutting (which is not unusual for FI in the current climate). When technology solutions overpromise and underdeliver on cost savings, the logical end result is that savings are found elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Add members to the executive board that have a really solid grasp of technology and are able to both truly understand and challenge the decisions being made by senior IT management.

    Pros

Good culture and people there are friendly. A lot of healthcare welfare as well

    Cons

Might have pay freeze and as global banks are offshoring, there might be no job stability

I have been working at UBS full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Still have some of the best colleagues to work with.
The IT process is matured than most of the other financial institutions.

    Cons

In 8 years I had 10 managers that too after 3 years with the first manager. UBS IT lost the plot during downsizing and outsourcing and have been clueless ever since. Too much top down approach.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in your people.
