    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at UBS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, challenging work with a reasonably healthy corporate culture.

    Cons

Usual politics of a large bank, reactionary rather than proactive. Senior management (IT) rarely seem to personally own anything.

    Advice to Management

Own something and stand by it. Deliver it.

I worked at UBS as a contractor

    Pros

Friendly & fairly stable for perms.

    Cons

Slow moving, very procedural environment where 90% of time is wasted in paper pushing and approval gathering rather than in technical work. Lots of politics and very risk averse.

    Advice to Management

Stop outsourcing & offshoring or the brain drain will be irreversible.

I have been working at UBS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Professional, competitive and yet friendly shop. Various departments offer wide room for collaboration and career moves.

    Cons

Despite claims, is more friendly to native local speakers. Networking in the right circles pays off more than performing at job.

    Advice to Management

Management gets the macro strategy right but fails to build a truly competitive culture where performers are groomed to grow from an early stage.

I worked at UBS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great diversity at work , excellent colleagues and networking place. Great training. Good package and holidays. The best asset is the people and quality of employees. Very diverse and competent.

    Cons

Burocrático place, slow process and very hierarchical. Very difficult to get promoted and sometimes too many processes and layers before the final decision in anything is taken .

I have been working at UBS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

UBS has a unique work culture (i.e. collaboration, challenging the status quo to constantly improve and high integrity), support me as an employee with great career development opportunities and is a truly global firm with great people.

    Cons

Financial industry is in a challenging environment (e.g. transformation in industry). Further, increased regulation leads to a higher workload for people, because it takes time and effort to adapt business practices.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees to continuously improve the status quo & be open for innovation.

I have been working at UBS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are some very interesting projects going on which could be a lifetime experience as well for a few of us, also management I believe is (in most of the case) good and able to and willing to help you to achieve your goals

    Cons

IT Infrastructure, processes, tooling, work-life balance - all these makes life struggling a little. But you can try to position yourself in a less stressful situation, however there are some cases, aspects where you have no control at all.
