I worked at UC Davis full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

UC Davis has a host of opportunities to grow, improve, and contribute to projects that are meaningful to you. If you work in a lab, as I did, a lot of your experience will be contingent upon the quality of your Lead PI. Keep that in mind

    Cons

When working in a scientific capacity, the PI's in charge of you, while excellent scientists, may not be excellent managers.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at UC Davis part-time

    Pros

Communication was great, boss was really understanding of me as a student. Made my own hours and never had to work more than I wanted.

    Cons

Won't really have a great setup for design work. If you have your own laptop, it would probably be better than what they provide for you.

    Advice to Management

Provide better perks for a designer (working on a Mac, maybe)

I worked at UC Davis part-time

    Pros

Work hours were flexible and I could work from home. Readers were only required to come in to grade tests. The grading criteria was relatively clear, and the head TA gave quiz responses.

    Cons

Hours varied wildly from week to week depending on homework and exam loads. The position estimated 10 hours a week, but most weeks only had 3-4. I think my maximum number was 7.

    Advice to Management

There isn't much that can be done about the grading load since it's dependent on course material. It would be great if readers (if qualified) could also address forum questions to add some extra hours.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at UC Davis part-time

    Pros

Great interaction with students as well as learning to lecture in front of large groups.

    Cons

A lot of time is spent away from research hours because of the teaching obligations.

    Advice to Management

The different departments function separately so I do not have any advice to management.

    Pros

Amazing team of individuals dedicated to the promotion of mental health on campus, lots of autonomy and availability for creative input within the position.

    Cons

Overworked hours for campus outreach events, occasionally difficult to ensure the facilities were staffed during work hours because most of the staff were volunteers.
