I have been working at UC San Francisco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

World class reputation, interesting work going on

    Cons

Inadequate support, whether from primary investigator or uc. You will be underpaid and overworked while the university profits off the goodwill that you and your position make within the community.

    Advice to Management

Respect people, show them dignity, and pay them a living wage for the Bay area. Give real and meaningful support to employees. Work with unions instead of busting them.

I have been working at UC San Francisco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Amazing people! Everyone who comes here is mind-bogglingly intelligent, driven, passionate, and kind! From the graduate students to the staff to the doctors/nurses/medical professionals, everyone here is a delight to work with. -UCSF does a lot to advance the life sciences fields. You can see the direct effects we have on the community. -Good benefits--health, dental, vision, etc.

    Cons

-You have to pay for gym access, and its not cheap! -The university is split into multiple campuses than are spread over San Francisco. Although there are free shuttles that regularly run between the campuses all day long, this commute between campuses is something to take into account when planning out your day -Ridiculously expansive city to live in. Not anything to do with UCSF in particular, but the extremely high cost of living in San Francisco makes everything a little harder.

I have been working at UC San Francisco full-time for less than a year

    Pros

SRA 1 at UCSF is the perfect position for someone who has recently completed a bachelor's in biology. Although the pay is not fantastic and the commute is absolutely horrendous if you live in the east bay, the skills you will develop while working in the lab for the first time as a professional will be worth it for future career endeavors and possibly graduate school.

    Cons

There is not much commuting support for east bay residents despite so many employees coming from Berkeley and Oakland.

    Advice to Management

Cut the fat by reducing the number of administrators.

I have been working at UC San Francisco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    highly ranked research institution

    Cons

low pay when compared to similar roles in biotech, feel unappreciated, the school is just run very inefficiently like most other government agencies, they even make obtaining lab coats, which are required very difficult. they dont getting the tools you need to do your job easy
