Pros
UCSF has world-class scientists working on important and interesting projects. The atmosphere was generally friendly and collegial. Good benefits.
Cons
Campus accommodation was expensive. Day-care was expensive. Pay is low compared to local industry. No sponsorship for green cards unless you are on the professorial track, regardless of time served. Bureaucratic behemoth.

Pros
UCSF has a good benefits package for postdocs. The health insurance and dental plan are decent. Although the work environment is something that changes from lab to lab, in general, the work atmosphere is chill. Most PIs don't control worked hours and researchers have a lot of freedom. UCSF also has a really good infrastructure with clean and organized buildings. Work culture is also hard to describe since it will also depend on your lab/department, but in general people at UCSF tend to be progressive and friendly. UCSF is also regarded as a top research institution, which will guarantee you to have contact with top professionals in your field.
Cons
The worst part of working at UCSF as a postdoctoral researcher is definitely the salary. The base salary makes it almost unfeasible to live in the Bay Area. As in any academic environment, there are cocky and sassy people, and one can expect to spend some energy dodging some people's egos.

Pros
-Amazing people! Everyone who comes here is mind-bogglingly intelligent, driven, passionate, and kind! From the graduate students to the staff to the doctors/nurses/medical professionals, everyone here is a delight to work with. -UCSF does a lot to advance the life sciences fields. You can see the direct effects we have on the community. -Good benefits--health, dental, vision, etc.
Cons
-You have to pay for gym access, and its not cheap! -The university is split into multiple campuses than are spread over San Francisco. Although there are free shuttles that regularly run between the campuses all day long, this commute between campuses is something to take into account when planning out your day -Ridiculously expansive city to live in. Not anything to do with UCSF in particular, but the extremely high cost of living in San Francisco makes everything a little harder.
