    Positive Outlook

I have been working at UC Santa Barbara part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Transfer Student Center is a great place to work. It has very flexible hours, a easy going staff, and a great sense of community with the transfer student population.

    Cons

There aren't many drawbacks to working at the Transfer Student Center other than the application process is very competitive. Additionally, the training on campus resources was condensed to one week during the summer.

    Advice to Management

I don't have any advice to offer because the director of the TSC is extremely understanding of moving work hours around because of our student schedules, and personal lives.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at UC Santa Barbara full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The potential to move around campus is incredibly valuable

    Cons

The lack of centralized leadership and direction means that every department is doing its own thing. Many departments suffer from poor leadership and that makes working here sort of a crap shoot.

I have been working at UC Santa Barbara part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

desk attendant jobs here can be really chill and very fruitful for getting homework done while still helping to pay for my overpriced Isla Vista double

    Cons

    bureaucracy is really annoying
hard to make changes to the system
why can't i give swipes to my friends??? seems like UCLA can handle it just fine, but I have to have my barc charged an extra 12 dollars rather than use the meals i already purchased

    Advice to Management

please give the lab monitors access to harold frank hall over the weekends, or try to install a hydration station outside of the building too

I worked at UC Santa Barbara full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are amazing, pay is steady, and there's a ton to do (access to classes, HR training, etc). Amazing culture of healthy, balanced living. They really want to keep you for your whole career.

    Cons

Management completely varies by department. Professors are overworked with administrative duties and are often difficult personalities to work under.

    Advice to Management

Winding up in a well-managed department is everything. I appreciated the encouragement to take HR courses, look at roles in other departments, and climb the ladder.
