    Pros

Hands down the best place to work as an RN in Colorado, good facilities, competent coworkers, evidence based practice, opportunities for growth. Excellent diversity, supportive culture and values.

    Cons

High turnover, low pay, pay for parking, hospital paid $5 million to name light rail but no shuttle or RTD pass for staff.

    Pros

I really enjoy my coworkers and the fast paced setting. There is endless variety and I never have the same day twice.

    Cons

Staffing is a perpetual struggle, I am also very disappointed with the lack of focus on helping to grow and develop employees.

I have been working at UCHealth full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers, evidence based practice, support for education and growth. Good education reimbursement.

    Cons

Huge turnover on inpatient med surg units, hard to get full day shift schedule, huge corporation with a lot of growth and difficulty keeping staffed not just with RNs but with support roles like phlebotomy, transport and housekeeping. RNs continually asked to fill in these gaps.

    Advice to Management

    Make retention a higher priority.

    Pros

Great teammates. Management is good. Benefits is affordable.

    Cons

Upper management (Directors) does not welcome work life vs personal life. No flexibility.

I have been working at UCHealth full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good health benefits with balanced pay. Clear vision and goals. National recognition. Best attempts to adjust to rapid expansion from C-Suite.

    Cons

Regional culture differences cause issues with discrepancies in some benefits and inconsistencies in processes. Rapid growth contributes to ineffective process improvement at times. Interdepartmental specialization misses interdepartmental partnership opportunities. HR department consistently inadequate- lack of timely support, slow response in job applications, ineffective balancing of salaries, etc.

    Advice to Management

UCHealth is moving toward becoming the best in the nation which is wonderful! Unfortunately, with rapid expansion and varied leadership (established vs acquired) coordinating cultures is a large issue. I believe Senior Leadership is moving in the right direction. Sometimes the bumps in the road to success hit the frontline harder than necessary. Listening to staff matters.

I have been working at UCHealth full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

My peers are awesome! The benefits are great! Pay is high but not when you consider how much you have to work - 60+ hours per week.

    Cons

No work and family balance, the organization overworks its employees, no development at any level whether its just educating employees how to perform their job better or develop them to grow into something more, management doesn't care about its employees, no opportunities for advancement unless you are a favorite - which doesn't necessarily mean that you are the best for the job, feedback falls on deaf ears - they want you to think they care by asking but then nothing ever comes from employees ideas.

    Advice to Management

burnout leads to turnover and we have high turnover, listen to the front lines - they are the ones doing the work
