I have been working at UCLA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Learn a lot of critical professional skills (group work, public speaking, work under stress, etc, which are all great on your resume)
Get to know many students and staff through counseling and advising
Gain an in-depth understanding of UCLA academic rules and cultures
If you are a current UCLA student, this job can help you get into almost any on-campus elite positions later.
Free housing and meals on campus throughout summer

    Cons

Hours (expect 70+ a week active duty)
Some staff members are hard to deal with
Due to the nature of this job, critical mistakes (absence, tardy, failure to show up, etc) are not tolerated. Because if you do something wrong it affects all students

    Advice to Management

More interactions with student staff. It's great overall.

I have been working at UCLA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The chemistry department has very solid compensation when compared to the other graduate departments.

    Cons

The actual salary listed of $23,000 as of 2017 does not technically include the tuition which is already taken out of it.

    Advice to Management

Payscales and distribution should be more transparent and uniform across all students in the chemistry department. The department would likely benefit from dispersing all compensation from a central account and handling the details of the individual lab accounts in the background so that all students receive the same pay at the same time.
