    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I worked at UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Getting the UCSF Stamp on resume.

    Cons

Management was horrid, commute to Mission Bay is insane because of ATT park and construction for Warriors Stadium, very bureaucratic. Lacking diversity in their research. 90% of their participants are white, but some diseases affect 90% non-white people. Low efforts to diversify participant pool. The PI I was working for was very intelligent but lacked skills in communication with team.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you hire knowledgable managers in the field of clinical research if they are going to lead a team. Listen to the boots on the ground. Make sure PI's learn how to communicate issues within a team.

I have been working at UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The medical center offers good benefits - cheap health care, free vision and dental. Working in MB is very nice - great weather, good food around campus (if you get a chance to go out)

    Cons

Pay is low for the Bay Area. Incremental salary increase due to union contract. Management is a little bit of a mess and HR takes forever to do anything.

    Advice to Management

Invest in growing talent from within. Employees get discouraged from the lack of career advancement and appreciation.
