I worked at UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, access to public transportation, work with a handful of people who are solid, did I say great benefits, onkybwhen handled by competent reps.

    Cons

Uncontrolled, vicious favoritism, singling out employees for violations when others blatantly do the same thing. Immediate supervisors who share their employees personal and confidential info to co-workers/their friend. Unprofessionalism, Not all employees are subjected to follow unit rules, many instances of intimidation and humiliation in front of fellow employees. Complaints to upper management for help go unanswered. Hostile work environment.

    Advice to Management

Start paying more attention to the EMPLOYEES requests for reviews and complaints to supervisors. and Mgmt. of favoritism, sabotage etc. it's very hard to take blatant abuse from a boss, when they've manipulated the manager into believing the lies from favored employees. . Allow employee to review documents and negative personal info that is in their file. MANAGERS AND SUPERVISORS ARE EXPECTED TO BE CONFIDENTIAL AND NONJUDGEMENTAL,
They SHOULD NOT TALK TO THEIR EMPLOYEES ABOUT other employees situations.
immediate supervisors should not be allowed to purposely sabotage any employee due to their personal opinion.
Favoritism in this unit is beyond repair.

I have been working at UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you manage to get a set schedule then that can help in balancing your work and home life.
Also, pay is probably the best. Benefits and pensions are a plus.

    Cons

From management, to coworkers, to customers (and those include other UCSF employees from other departments)...this has been one of the worst places to work for. They expect us to take verbal and emotions abuse and when those actions are reported, you get told your job isn't as stressful as their job or they tell you to still be warm and smile and to suck it up. Yet, there is no way ANYONE would be able to take that abuse and continue to smile.
No support, toxic and lazy people get away with everything. They push the hard workers to do more and it's not right.

I worked at UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

What I loved about this job was the children. I use to love to come to work and see empty rooms cause I knew they finally went home to there family. And that made me fill good. I hate seeing a sick child our baby.

    Cons

I hated doing a labor room that is a stat. Which means the room has to be cleaned very quickly.

    Advice to Management

Keep your good workers. Y'all let alot of good workers go, to hire people that dont clean good. Don't understand that. Y'all rather pick kids that really dont want to work. Y'all rules our not fair.

    Pros

Pension, salary, medical benefits. Some units are still 12 hour based.

    Cons

Registered Nurses can be hit and miss. It can be clique style almost a bit high school like. Overworked staff. Management has scripted conversations with staff and patients.

    Advice to Management

Slim down the management and listen to employees.
