    Floating Leasing Consultant

    Pros

30% rent discount on their communities... which you still wont be able to afford with the low salary and commissions they pay you

    Cons

I worked at multiple communities at UDR and every single one of them has the worst moral to work at. They have absolutely zero training for any new hires. They lowered the pay by 30% for commissions just randomly and then claimed it matched the market (it doesn't). Once they lowered the pay a bunch of people quit and upper management refused to hire new people even though the onsite staff was drowning and begging for the extra help. 2 people working at a 450+ community? So unprofessional! Upper management will treat you like you are nothing. If you voice you are unhappy they will tell you that you are lucky to have the job you have. I was one of the better leasing agents in the Orange County area and was told that they were changing my role to a floating leasing consultant because I was under performing. Then proceeded to mak me work at three communities at a time ALONE. Why would you trust someone who was under performing at one community to work at three? Because I wasn't under performing they just didn't want to pay to hire anyone else! They raise rents on residents by at least 10% per year and don't care if they move out! All they care about is making a quick buck and then they sell the community when it starts going down hill rather than invest time and interest to their communities. Absolutely no room for growth, don't let them lie to you in the interview process. Moving people up would require them to hire someone new, which they wont until staff starts begging for months on end.

    Recurring theme: incompetent management

    Pros

Working for a large company has its perks. That's about it as far as I can go with the compliments.

    Cons

Management's apathy towards the residents is frustrating and detrimental to future referral business and to the employees that earn money from commissions.

    Pros

Tests your character and builds experience

    Cons

Escalations with residents can get very difficult and upper management don't realize how much the first line employees can struggle emotionally and mentally.

Don't get stuck at this dead end job!

    Pros

Great relationships with other employees and residents.

    Cons

Stock price is low because the company is too busy cutting corners on the operations side. Very little training although expectations are high. The company needs to invest more in its employees. Low-mid level managers are poor. Don't expect a big raise come review time. Most employees on the operations side receive $0.25-$0.75 raises for a job well done....sad.

    Pros

Pay is great if your single and can afford to get by on ramen noodles

    Cons

No loyalty to employees and their residents. Extremely aggressive rental increasesExtremely aggressive rental increasesExtremely aggressive rental increases which makes our jobs very hard upon renewing them and retaining residents. Benefits and holidays are that of someone who works a mall kiosk. You get more paid time off at McDonalds.

    Pros

Opportunity to network with residents via your location.

    Cons

By far the worst company I worked for. This company does not care about its employees. They give the false impression that they do. All they care about is numbers, which are not even reasonable. They expect you to hit your quotas even if it means working on your off time and will not compensate you or appreciate your effort. The product your expected to sell isn't luxurious as they claim which adds to the difficulties of reaching your goals. Employees come and go which clearly demonstrates the quality of this company.

    Pros

Training is extensive when it is off site but not in office

    Cons

Upper management cares about only money not residents. If you live on a property everyone is in your business and that's how they will judge your work performance. They are all about increasing rent extremely and don't care about in out from on site team members.

Decent as a first time job, not for career growth.

Jan 7, 2021 - Resident Services in Los Angeles, CA

    Pros

The apartment discount- it’s really the only thing that keeps the few long standing employees around.

    Cons

If you are in this industry because you actually like people, this is not the company for you. You are essentially a punching bag for the residents. The onsite team is given little to no support to provide any service that could help residents with their concerns. There is no room for growth as most positions are moving to a “centralized” team in CO. They will sell you on “promoting from within”, in reality, staff leaves and the regional will move people around where there is a need and change their title and call it a “promotion”.
