    Positive Outlook

I worked at UDS as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Bill Kepner sets the tone and the culture as UDS' CEO. He's a strong leader, ethical, honest, motivated and positive. He listens to staff's feedback and treats people in a fair and humane manner. . He assembles a top-notch senior management team and sets expectations for how they'll treat their jobs and the less senior staff. Staff want to do a great job and feel like part of something bigger.

    Cons

I can't come up with any cons at UDS. I did project-based work and consulting for them for over 4 years, schlepping from Philadelphia to Lancaster, because it was such a positive organization to work for. I highly recommend it.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what your doing! Reward achievement and creative problem-solving!

    Pros

It's a great place to work. The team works well together to help adults with disabilities learn skills and enjoy their day. Staff are open and friendly and collaboration is encouraged.
When you leave at the end of the day there is no carry over.

    Cons

The work can be monotonous. There isn't much room for advancement.

I worked at UDS as a contractor

    Pros

You control your involvement in the delivery process. You have more control over the money you make based upon your availability and work ethic. You can also operate a business within UDS by subcontracting the work received to others in your employ provided UDS has a need for your service and your employees (your business) proves reliable and dependable.

    Cons

There is NO security. NO signed contracts prohibiting UDS from snatching all the work your currently receive on a whim or to award it to someone else.
You must own your tools for delivery including your truck or van.
    No benefits whatsoever.
Salary is by the "piece delivered". So if your are not running a regular pharmaceutical route with a set number of stops and a consistent daily pay, your pay is subject otherwise to the total number of pieces available for you to deliver on a given day. So, weekly pay is subject to high fluctuation.

    Advice to Management

Care more about the people on whom the success of your business depends...the drivers. Get quality people, pay them well for what they do so that the image you betray on the internet will actually be true and your family business will grow exponentially.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at UDS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Helping people with disabilities. Good people at the grass roots level. ,

    Cons

The most dysfunctional company I ever worked for. Upper management is grossly overpaid for a nonprofit and the CEO hires mostly old coworkers for upper management roles. There are so many meetings daily you'd think they were running a Fortune 100 company. Ridiculous. Huge turnover at this company too. Good people come and go quickly. I sit and watch smart people walk out all the time and mgmt. doesn't care.

    Advice to Management

You are clueless. Not sure why the Board of Directors hasn't fired all of you what with the chronic losses and poor judgment. You should also do drug testing if you are going to have low skilled labor enter other peoples homes.

I worked at UDS as an intern

    Pros

Good guidance, independence, loose work hours, good helping staff, in the OMR with all facilities nearby. Its a good experience as we are handled the entire work.

    Cons

work place is not too awesome, had to work on Saturday. Pay very less and make us to do more. No proper organization.

    Advice to Management

Can employ facilities to interns. Can take care of transit. Can provide a good work place.

    Pros

Co-workers were very hard working and provided excellent caring service for the consumers. The service dog program is the best part of this company.

    Cons

Most managers did not know how to treat people many acted like they didn't see you and never bothered to learn our names. In many cases they did not understand the job requirements of the people they managed. The pay was really low compared to similar jobs in the area and the benefits were very expensive.
