-Pressure to publish -No mandatory "how to supervise" training to PhD supervisors so sometimes your supervisor does not know how to handle problems or facilitate the candedate's job -If the thesis is not compiled all within the 3-4 year contract, the PhD student needs to work on it unpaid because the employer does not cover the extra work period. So it is essential for the student to either finish on time (although it may not be possible for various reasons) or have the luck to have a supervisor with money from other grants that he/she can use to support the PhD student.
