I worked at UNC Pembroke full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Working with students whom are excited about their futures.

    Cons

Professors are arrogant. They think that they are superior to students and staff.

    Advice to Management

Instead of sending faculty on trips all over the world, have training come to UNC Pembroke and clean up the faculty members.

I worked at UNC Pembroke full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Sense of community/family among University employees. I believe that the Staff and Faculty really care about the students

    Cons

I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about my experience there except the fact that employees have to pay for a yearly parking pass.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and continue to send employees to staff development training opportunities wen possible. Also, continue to keep the University engaged with the local community.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at UNC Pembroke part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work schedule, work at own pace. Great advisors. Helpful faculty and staff. Decent pay and good opportunities for resume building.

    Cons

Low pay. Some of the skills for the job do not really transfer into "real world" jobs. Take it with a grainew of salt.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work but try to include some competitive rewards with the pay compensation. Work more hours, don't limit hours, and add options for continuing employment.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at UNC Pembroke full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most of the staff and faculty are easy to work with on campus.

    Cons

The University is a state employer, but your salary is dependent on what ever they want to pay you at the time. You could work for 30yrs at the university and never even make it to the mid-point of the salary scale. Almost all of the better paying jobs are pre-selected and executives lack the ability or qualification to make positive changes.

    Advice to Management

How can UNCP expect the university to be respected when it pays is own graduates the lowest salaries in state government? I recommend paying workers more fairly and stop making up factious reasons to keep employee pay low. Employees leave campus every year and get paid 20-60% more for doing the exact same job elsewhere.
