A little bit behind the curve in new developments
At both locations, Cincinnati, OH and Lincoln, NB., the retirement division staff is down to earth and provide a level of support which represents a value added to clients and sales representatives. In the past there has been little turnover which adds to the generational knowledge base. Good place to start a career.
The retirement sales operation has been adrift for the last three and a half years with no clear direction.
Every aspect of the marketing/distribution/sales process has been delayed due to lack of knowledge as to how to position/direct a niche organization to a broader market footprint. The opinions of seasoned field professionals (with a vested interest to move forward) is viewed with distain and resentment which as caused the development of this camp and that camp by sales management. A lack of trust caused by the
consequence of many poor decisions as to who should be in key sales and distribution roles has just added
more confusion to the direction of the division.
Advice to Management
To obtain a broader market footprint, leadership should have gone down this path before
. The knowledge of the past will assist in the direction of the future.
