I have been working at UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY full-time

    Pros

Very collegial environment. Great location (downtown San Francisco)

    Cons

Open office space environment, which is sometimes not conducive for reading or preparing lectures

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY full-time

    Pros

Good benefits, easy transportation, lots of sun light

    Cons

Bad unprofessional culture - people are unhappy and do bare minimal, no cooperativity without some benefit in return, sketchy. Gossip mongering is common regardless of department, role (admin, security, leadership, technician, professor, etc). Professors expect to be treated like royalty at the expense of everyone else. I was harassed by those who thought my title was hierarchically poor.

Worst of it was when I was followed (I'm guessing by) by someone's (an international volunteer's) relative to a coffee shop and stalked while having a conversation with a colleague; not sure if she works there but I mentioned the school (I shouted) and she backed off so may be involved.

    Never coming back.

    Advice to Management

Moral is low; figure out why.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY full-time

    Pros

Very good work life balance. Upper management was fair, if a bit old school. Amazing benefits. Generous time off, including paid time off between Christmas and New Years holidays. The new school building is high end.

    Cons

A lot of employees who have been there a long time and lack drive/perspective. There seems to be a lot of people that are just riding it out until they retire. If you don't have a DDS degree or secondary degree you won't get far with career growth.

    Advice to Management

Good work on benefits and a family-like culture. The union leads to complacency...Keep challenging staff and faculty to get out of their comfort zones and gain greater perspective.

    Pros

    Good medical and dental coverage

    Cons

I found the union to be ineffectual when positions were at stake

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your employees and repurpose them instead of terminating.

I worked at UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Good location
-Really cares about their employees and students
-Decent pay and benefits with yearly raises
    -Great work/life balance
-Wonderful culture and good management (depends on which department)

    Cons

-Can be some cliques between people (very typical of any organization)
-There are a few people that are hard to get along with, but it's hard to let go of them due to unions and such

    Advice to Management

Continue to value your employees and the organization will do great.
