I have been working at UPS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

UPS is a world renowned brand. I've never been to a dinner party, and when asked "who do you work for", and I say UPS, the other person responds "I've never heard of them, what do they do". That goes for dinner parties in Atlanta, Paris, Mumbai or Singapore. From my 17 years experience, if you work in Logistics/SCM or Technology, this is great experience.

    Cons

    - Let me say that I've never worked in Operations, but the stories that you hear are not good. I would simply describe the organization as a machine.
    - Job mobility can be an issue.
    - Fortune 50 level office-politics
    - Arbitrary compensation/bonus plan (MIP)
    - The salary you are shown in your offer letter IS NOT the money you will actually take home your first year. The offer includes bonuses that will not fully vest for five years. Once fully vested, the bonuses will still only be 75% of their potential due to the arbitrary system in place.

    Advice to Management

Do anyway with the MIP bonus system for anyone in the organization who is not an option-level manager, then raise salaries to competitive industry levels for those same people. The current system is a bad joke within the organization. Simply put, the Senior Managers are enriching themselves to the detriment of the other Managers through the MIP payout (bonus plan).

I worked at UPS as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

You learn something new, which is what an internship is for.
Getting to meet new people, work on a cool project, and experience what the corporate would is like.

    Cons

Sometimes, the work place was really disorganized. Meetings would be set up, but people would come late.
Cubicles were everywhere, it was mundane.
Also, you have to buy your own breakfast and lunch.

    Advice to Management

If I were to give any advice to management, it would be to talk to the team more. Communication is such a big deal, especially in the IT field. If the customer wants something, the team should know about it.

I worked at UPS (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, flexible hours, good location, good learning experience, and learned a lot

    Cons

Management and directors are very old school, not apt for millennials, could work from home but was not allowed to - Should change that to retain millennials

    Advice to Management

    Relax a little

    Pros

The benefits are good. It's a strong brand.

    Cons

The culture is terrible. There is a bad top down management situation. The dress code is unrealistic for 2016 and the company is more concerned about dress code then addressing the elephant in the room which is the culture. There's no wifi and they filter everything on the Internet everything it's 2016. There is quiet time in the entire building and no genuine compassion or team building.

    Advice to Management

Take a leap of faith and look at Google or Amazon. If there's no culture change we could end up like Kodak or Blockbuster. BRG's are cool but just change the culture you wouldn't have to have a Millennial's developing apps for fun, African American, LBGT, Latino, or Women Business Resource Group if the culture was better. Stop placing people in these positions just because of seniority place people that have the actual skills or the ability to learn the skills. Research what a job title means externally with a consultant firm so that you can define jobs better and break up the insecurities that a lot of the employees have. Also, make soft skills training mandatory to the entire workforce so people speak and be compassionate. Teach your leadership to share more information internally instead of spoon feeding information so the UPSers have better skills.

    Pros

    Established processes
    Company sponsored/in-house educational opportunities

I have been working at UPS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Position keeps you busy...downtime is minimal. Their approach is you either swim or sink. You should expect to receive yearly bonus and merit increases

    Cons

Pay is not very competitive. The work group does not have work from home policy. Although expected to be on installation calls on weeknights and weekends. Do not expect alot of direction from management.

    Advice to Management

Management does not make any moves to take care of employee complaints

I worked at UPS as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I had great managers and liked everyone in my chain of command
I got to work on an influential project affecting billion-dollar decisions
I got exposure to high-level decision makers

    Cons

Supply-chain internship was unstructured compared with those in computer programming
Some interns had only 30 minutes worth of actual work per day
Lots of old-timers delayed retirement after the recession so upper management is backlogged and bloated
Very little culture or camaraderie at the Alpharetta Supply Chain office

    Advice to Management

    Retire
