I worked at UPS as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Bonus Start work right away no training needed work as much you as want or as little Great company to work for weekly bonus if you work every day asked total of 5 days/week usually

    Cons

If your driver doesnt like you then you will be waiting for a phone call from the coordinator sometimes for most of the day. You have to work hard and make friends with a driver and just coordinate with them every day. Otherwise things get crazy and they may not need you on certain days. Lots of fast paced deliveries to houses and businesses. Heavy labor at times but its worth it when you need that holiday cash.

    Advice to Management

    Great season!!!

I worked at UPS as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is good and the hundred dollar bonus for a week for seasonal helpers who are available 5 days a week was amazing!

Got me in shape, it's not a job for people looking for something easy but I LOVED the exercise.

    Cons

The helper organizer was a bit incompetent but luckily I didn't have to deal with him much.

    Advice to Management

Definitely train the helper organizers better (this guy didn't know about our bonus and thus it wasn't added to the first wave of paychecks, and he kept trying to force us to work weekends even though it wasn't in our contract, the guy was very pushy about it).

But otherwise y'all are doing an amazing job treating your employees well! if there was a shipping center near me I'd have stayed on longer as a warehouse worker!

I worked at UPS (Less than a year)

    Pros

The experience and pay. Possible part or full time employment.

    Cons

Disrespect, negative gossip and rudeness from the drivers. The job description clearly states you are there to assist the driver. There was no teamwork. The driver barely assisted me with delivering packages I felt like a gopher. When I bought it to his attention, he threatened to take me back to my car. I requested to work with a different driver. It's almost like they did not appreciate you being there. I refuse to be mistreated by anyone.

    Advice to Management

Management should remind the drivers that helpers are there to assist with the timely delivering of packages . Not do all of the work and to treat people (helpers)with dignity and respect. I really wanted the opportunity to work for such a reputable company, but there is so much negativity at this particular location.

I worked at UPS part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Easy application and hiring process
    - Forced physical exercise
    - Flexible professionalism
    - Opportunities for overtime
    - Satisfying work
    - Always opportunity to work during peak season

    Cons

-The pay is okay. It's better than some other entry level jobs, but I am not sure it justifies the physical work.
    - Repetitious
    - Cold and uncomfortable
    - Long days
    - Only Sunday off

    Advice to Management

Invest more in the driver helpers, maybe offer a small bonus for completion of entire weeks. The job is physically taxing and the pay does not reflect it. Also, consider hiring more drivers during the peak season. My driver worked seventy hours a week which really destroys any work life balance that exists.
