I have been working at UPS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay. Benefits. Hours can be if you have something else you're doing at normal hours since combination hours tend to be at night such as, a business or school.

    Cons

Hours, if you have loved ones and/or family on 'normal hours'. Can be physical. Low starting pay.

    Advice to Management

I've been here 23 years. Too many untrained part-time supervisors, ESPECIALLY in operations. They get eaten up by the full-time Supes as well as the hourlies, if anyone needs more training it's the part-time supervisors. Low starting pay. Yes we know the great benefits and health insurance but telling newbies that they're guaranteed 3.5 hours at barely above minimum wage in a physically demanding job means we'll soon be getting the bottom of the barrel in employees.

I have been working at UPS part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Was a great opportunity to work for UPS. Everyone treats you with respect. Overall the company has fulfilling benefits. UPS is a very stable job and one to stay with if you can land the full time position.

    Cons

The Cons of working for UPS is the fact that it is really difficult to land a full time job position as a regular driver. You have to work in the warehouse and move up the latter.

I have been working at UPS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Stable employment with plenty of opportunity to grow within the company. Company is focused on, and has a solid plan for, continued growth.

    Cons

Not a true sales position - majority of time will be spent on customer service rather than sales. Good news is this is slowly changing.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work towards transforming sales and internal culture.

I have been working at UPS as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The package handler position is good for full-time students with a big workload. Typical shifts were usually about four hours. And the union benefits are great. But they take one year to kick in. A positive experience overall.

    Cons

Unless you intend to stay with the company for the long run, the money you make as a package handler may not justify the work you have to put in to get it. I put up with the work for a couple of years as I was finishing up school, but I wouldn't recommend it to others unless they are good workers who are open to intensive manual labor.

    Advice to Management

Gloves should have been provided to the package handlers on a more regular basis. I went through a pair every couple of weeks.

    Pros

Excellent pay, Benefits are best in the Industry, Union Protection, Great Co-workers, Paid Vacation, Sick Time, Pension, 401K, Stock etc.

    Cons

Management can be a hassle. Long Hours with OT cut into family/social lives. Unreal expectations in many events.

    Advice to Management

Sympathize with employees more. Many have no clue of what it's like to perform the job.

I have been working at UPS part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a job that has great benefits. The people are hard workers and the workout is good.

    Cons

The only thing that makes this job super hard are the late night hours. It's not easy to wake up.

    Advice to Management

Management should always be positive and uplifting. To many shout and call you names if your not working hard. Newsflash this job is more physical than some professional sports.
