I worked at UPS part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers were amazing, always helping each other out and making the day better.
You are able to save up many days to take off and hours are set but if you need a day off, it shouldn't be a hassle.

    Cons

Everyone who loads is overworked. You usually leave the day feeling sore but you eventually get used to it.
An all male environment can make women there feel uncomfortable, especially because there are some creeps and perverts there.
Expect to be treated unfairly as your time there passes by. Sometimes seniority rules are overlooked and you could be stuck doing more than you should.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees. Not everyone is willing to voice their opinions but since I have worked there and have gotten to know a great amount of people, everyone wants something to change.

I have been working at UPS part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. You have the Union to back you and helps you with management or supervisors. Always opportunities to advance or promote. Can wear whatever you want.

    Cons

May be exposed to hot or cold weather. Warehouse can get humid or really cold depending on the weather. Not always the best communication between supervisors.

I worked at UPS part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fast pace, good workout, excellent benefits after a certain time, tuition reimbursement, good people and sometimes fun.

    Cons

Little pay, long list to become full time or driver. It gets hot and sometimes dangerous. Management will ride you if you are a good worker.

I have been working at UPS part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Guaranteed hours, benefits and they pay for school. Salaried position enables good pay even if you work less than salaried hours.

    Cons

Easy to get stuck here. Benefits may look good at first
But many of my coworkers become stuck here with little pay increases.

    Advice to Management

Make it so qualified people make it into upper management and not people that constantly suck up to upper management.

I have been working at UPS part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company has great benefits for part time employees after 1 year and some benefits kick in as soon as you start and there are plenty of work schedules to choose from. Interview was easy, if they don't call you back keep trying, it's worth it. Very little turnover.

    Cons

Full time is very difficult to get but not impossible. Just make sure your name is on the list and check for openings. You need to be diligent in this otherwise jobs will pass you by.

    Advice to Management

Need more diversity when it comes to age. From supervisors down to employees.

I have been working at UPS part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The culture is very strong and pro hiring from within. The benefits are better than most other jobs as well.

    Cons

The holidays can be really crazy, depending on your position of responsibility. Plan on not spending time with your family for a month or two...

    Advice to Management

Take time to consider all of the players in the operational puzzle that you manage. Often times some of those key players are overlooked or under appreciated.
