I worked at UPS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun to interact with everyone you worked and definitely a fun fast pace environment and also helped to keep everyone in shape because of the manual labor.

    Cons

Management was awful and would block your way to getting a promotion and was just overall not a good experience at all. There were fights almost every day at work and it was viewed as just the norm!

    Advice to Management

Don't be so close minded and be open to allowing people to move above you because it doesnt look bad for you it just means you're good at your job when people you've hired are moving up the ladder

I worked at UPS (More than 8 years)

    Pros

If you want the same thing day in and day out, this is the place to be

    Cons

Too fixed into their old management ways. Expect lower level FT supervisors to work 10-12 hour days because "that's how it was when I was a new sup".

It is extremely physical. At times it is more physical than advertised.

    Hire more people.

I worked at UPS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, good experience, great training

    Cons

No work-life balance whatsoever, average day is 13 hours making the pay seem like its very little for the hours that are put in. Constant arguing and contradictions from management and very difficult to manage for results with union contract obligations. Your input is not valued even for your direct reports, your management team won't listen. If you make these people mad, they will make your life as difficult as possible until you quit.

    Advice to Management

Start treating employees better and less like a number. People have lives and have families and with the changing attitude of this generations work force, you're going to have a difficult time with employee retainment.

    Pros

Pay, benefits. That's basically it. If that's all you're looking for and you're willing to put up with anything to get it this is the place for you.

    Cons

Terrible work life balance, high stress. Often feels like you working for no purpose. Even the smallest decisions at the local level are dictated by management at high levels who may have never even set foot in your facility.

    Pros

Great hours and tuition reimbursement starting day one.

    Cons

Miserably hot working conditions in the summer, too much work and not enough pay and the overall morale is low because no one is happy with their job including supervisors.

    Advice to Management

Give employees help when they ask or when you can clearly see they are struggling.

I worked at UPS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Daily Excersice
    Meeting some nice people
    Good Benefits
All these things though can be found at other companies.

    Cons

    Long Hours
    Low Pay
    Micro managed
    Unbalanced routes.
Make sure that your supervisor likes you. They supposedly balance the routes so everyone has an 8 hour day. Not true. There were days I had 70 more stops than other drivers

    Advice to Management

Start treating people like human beings not like replaceable package mules. You wonder why you're always looking for help. Especially in the loader division.
