I worked at UPS part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Short hours, occasional overtime pay, an extra dollar per hour for loading position, good workout, stable job that is unionized and can lead to great benefits and pay if you stay for several years.

    Cons

Very early in the morning (Started at apprx. 4am), management tends to push workers harder than average (even for a warehouse position), just like with many warehouse jobs injury can come easily if you´re not always alert and cautious. Hard on the body in general in the long run.

    Advice to Management

Sometimes it seems like the way the warehouses are worked should be a bit more quality focused. There are times when it seemed like it was all about number crunching and that quality of service was being ignored for the sake of speed (or even just for the appearance of expedience without effectiveness).

I worked at UPS (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great Pay! For full timers!

    Cons

Hard physical work! Union is not strong at this time. Our Medical benefits are getting worse.

    Advice to Management

Treat people like human beings. Most managers couldn't do the job that is expected.

I worked at UPS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Made some extra money working week days and some Saturdays for UPS. If you show up to work on time every day that week you get a $100 bonus.

    Cons

Really long hours and the drivers you are set up with can be iffy depending on your location. Also, most drivers don't offer to help at any point even if they see you are struggling, as its on to the next delivery.

    Advice to Management

either pay more or have a personality questionnaire to match the best driver with the best helper they will get along with.

I worked at UPS part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Work is good physical activity
Decent pay for what you are doing
Upward mobility if you should stay with the company

    Cons

Preload shift work is Union work. This often leads to an “us vs. them” feeling in regards to the company vs. the Teamsters.

    Advice to Management

Work better to understand the needs of your employees, so that they aren’t forced into filing grievances with the Union against you.

It pays in the long run. $$$$

    Cons

So much hard labor almost is like if your a slave. You gotta b constant doing something. Work at a high speed get things done quick it can be a very stressfull job in all position in ups.
You can get injured easy thats why they enforce you to work save..
You deal with so many personalities,
This is a good job in a mean time, its best for you to study to get better career for a good job that you like.
You dont want to get stuck her for the rest of your life.

    Advice to Management

My advice is that sometimes supervisors they dont go by seniority, its very easy to be taking advantage here. They should improve all this and also bullying .people dont do nothing about trouble makers.

    Cons

Very short break, only 10 minutes even when working 8 hours during peak season. Constant lifting, Some jobs harder than others like hand loading a 53' trailer of nothing but Amazon returns, did I mention short break?

    Advice to Management

Buy new scanners, extend break during peak season
