I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Unlimited opportunities for those willing to work hard, and even more so for those who are willing to relocate or travel.

    Cons

Some members of middle management are more concerned with their ego and appearance than they are the good of the organization, but that is not isolated to this organization of course.

I have been working at URS Corporation (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Working with smart, encouraging, smart professionals. Work is arduous, and challenging but it's rewarding to work with my colleagues who are team players

    Cons

I sleep good at night. No additional stress or worrying. We are on contract, which requires yearly contract reviews. But other then that we are cool.

I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay was above average for industry.

    Cons

    Benefits were weak.
    No connection to larger company.

    Advice to Management

Try to engage new employees embedded at client locations to feel like a part of the company rather than just a warm body able to bill hours.

I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fair pay, good work/life balance (or overtime pay), benefits were nice. Also, for a large company it seemed they were able to make hiring/firing decisions quickly which is always good.

    Cons

URS has a solid foundation, but that foundation is structured for large construction projects. We were trying to do smaller engineering jobs and that structure did not support our business model well, or help us be competitive.

    Advice to Management

Apply different procedural and organizational structures to different areas.

    Pros

overtime daily, holiday pay 10%, 2 of 14 days were overtime all day, excellent pension

    Cons

long hours, away from home for 2 weeks, work in all weather conditions.

I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paid well, large corporation. Customer focus.

    Cons

Large corporation, if you did not work in a corporate building you were on your own. AECOM was a construction company that was moving into IT, bought URS. Could not win IT contracts.

    Advice to Management

Get an understanding on what IT really is.

    Pros

Benefits are decent, employee stock plan available

    Cons

Don't look out for their employees once a contract has entered closeout. Start looking for employment alternatives early and if you find something good, take it. Dont let them talk you into staying thru the end of a job.

I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, it was good for new parents to be able to come in later or leave earlier. Friendly staff, collaborative atmosphere.

    Cons

Pay raises little to non-existent, good old boy management style, antiquated systems, the only way to get a raise is to leave, the only way to get a promotion is to leave for the most part.

    Advice to Management

Start paying people what they're worth, give decent raises, re-vamp the career planning system.
