I have been working at URS Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is okay but that's about it. and its only okay

    Cons

where do I begin, discrimination, harassment, fraud, and poor management make AECOM / URS what it is. HR is a JOKE!! Went to them about the above stated issues and out of the blue I received a final warning for attendance and I have NEVER have a single reprimand. Moral is some of the worst and there is a VERY high turn over

    Advice to Management

Treat people FAIRLY, raise moral and maybe compensate skilled people more than you do. there is a VERY high turnover so you need to look at the root cause and that is the immediate managers here starting how wasteful they are with the money they are given

I worked at URS Corporation as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive salary. That's about the only good thing I can say about URS. Produce and you'll get paid. You won't get bonuses, raises, or other profit-sharing benefits, but they pay you.

    Cons

Not enough hours in a day to list them all. Senior management is not engaged with workforce even minimally. It's all about the dollar...they will step on their employees any way possible to make a buck. They don't hesitate one minute to send someone home on lay-off for a week or two to increase their bottom line. Mandatory annual ethics lecture from senior VP's is in direct conflict with actual work practices (timekeeping, for example). Over three years with them, worst three years of my life. Was glad when they lost the contract to Alion, where I was picked up.

    Advice to Management

Get in touch with your people. Provide constructive criticism, but be engaged first. Share profits...would a $25 gift card at Christmas be too much to ask?? Even a "Thank you!" for a job well done? Communication is non-existent...how about cruising the cube farm twice a year to talk to your moneymakers?

    Pros

Houston Project Controls Department Management is very good.

    Cons

URS/AECOM is a bunch of patched together companies existing on the reputations of their predecessor companies. As such there is much in-fighting and conquered/conquerer attitude creating an undesirable work environment particularly amongst executives.

    Advice to Management

Male/female reporting relationships and promotions should be scrutinized for favoritism.

    Pros

There are no pros to this company. That's why AECOM took it over.

    Cons

There are no real cons to this company either. It's a big annoying company.

    Advice to Management

Wise up! Buck up! Improvise! Adapt! Overcome!!

    Pros

Most of the coworkers were genuinely kind and helpful. They paid for a company lunch once a year. I think they provided a company matching 401k plan, up to 3%.

    Cons

No formally trained managers, so they tended to be power hungry micromanagers. Since the sector I worked for was a government contractor, we were subject to the least resource support, at the lowest cost; meaning we were forced to make do with as little as possible, always. Very poor treatment of their employees, and I would not recommend working for this company. Everyone I spoke with was looking for employment elsewhere, left as soon as possible, and was glad to leave.
Strictly 40 hour work weeks, unless they needed more. Then, if you refused, you were received poor reviews, regardless of your reasons for not working more.

    Advice to Management

Provide the folks you appoint to middle management with some training, before they accept their positions

I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Can begin work from 7-9am, take up to a one hour lunch, work until you get your 8 hours in.

    Cons

Unappreciated. Make sure you learn the motto "CYA" asap. Management is unexperienced, uneducated and could care less about their employees. Could not find one person who worked their who said they loved their job which is sad.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and actually make them players on the team vs minions.
