I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, it was good for new parents to be able to come in later or leave earlier. Friendly staff, collaborative atmosphere.

    Cons

Pay raises little to non-existent, good old boy management style, antiquated systems, the only way to get a raise is to leave, the only way to get a promotion is to leave for the most part.

    Advice to Management

Start paying people what they're worth, give decent raises, re-vamp the career planning system.

I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    They get lots of contracts

    Cons

They treat their employees as disposable and benefits were cut every year I was with them

    Advice to Management

Find a way to maintain a more stable job environment and for Heaven's sake improve your benefits

I have been working at URS Corporation full-time

    Pros

Flexible work schedule but that is really about it

    Cons

Poor management oversight, lack of VP support who run bids, lack of accountability overall...no decent raises...
Also, the people where I work are NOT friendly whatsoever, that includes contracts director, business managers, subcontracts people. They all act very cliquish, very juvenile...no team work but lots of pointing fingers if something is wrong....
Also, took another day of holidays so we are down to only 8 and reduced PTO....guess I should stop there.

    Advice to Management

Listen to those who can make improvements. Spread the raises to the high performers rather than to the non performing VPs....and there are numerous.
When you are challenged, don't cave but step up and do the right thing regardless of who is whining.

I worked at URS Corporation (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good pay for the work

    Cons

Horrible management structure that is allowed no power to change for the better.

    Advice to Management

Be more perceptive and open your eyes to actual events. Give more power to the supervisors to actually hold workers to the safety standards.

    Pros

    Nice people in the company.

    Cons

Not interested in growing the company.
Only interested in taking care of shareholders.
Billability is the only thing that matters. As soon as you are off a project, you are out of a job unless you have an immediate new project.

    Advice to Management

Utilize the people the way they should be used. Experience will help you win projects and do the projects you win correctly.

I worked at URS Corporation (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay was competitive for my position.

    Cons

I was totally misled about the position I was hired for, basically lied to about my terms of employment; nearly every aspect..
Very little support, and mid management couldn't be worse (inept and disorganized)

    Advice to Management

Do not lie to potential employees.
    Lead by example.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting projects, lots of variety, tons of field work experience and hands-on geology and environmental remediation. We had a decent team for a while.

    Cons

Low salary, project managers stingy with work, lack of a collaborative team environment, frequently played favorites with employees, being on overhead would get you written up even though the work isn't being assigned by the project managers

    Advice to Management

Remember to treat your employees like they are people first, and not just dollars.

I worked at URS Corporation (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They keep most workers when they got contract.

    Cons

They keep most workers when they got contract. They allowed people with collage but no common sense to get promoted. And when they seen it was a mistake....did nothing about it.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your workers. Just because they are contractors doesn't mean their basic people.

I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

URS Federal Services Division was a great place to work. Very talented and competent professionals who worked collaboratively on many projects in support of DOD Tasks.

    Cons

AECOM bought URS in late 2014. The culture has changed and the employees are no longer valued as they were when at URS. The bottom line and the board room is having too much say now.

    Advice to Management

Treat your former URS Federal Services and Defense Industry Employees better or you soon will lose much more than just a group of very talented and competent professionals.
