    Pros

Benefits are decent, employee stock plan available

    Cons

Don't look out for their employees once a contract has entered closeout. Start looking for employment alternatives early and if you find something good, take it. Dont let them talk you into staying thru the end of a job.

I worked at URS Corporation (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There were many great engineers who worked together to help one another. Upper management, engineers and project managers were always open to discussing complex ideas on projects, even if it wasn't their project.

    Cons

Corporate policies made life on the job harder than it should be. Big brother took away our clients and depleted our projects which resulted in a major reduction in force.

    Advice to Management

Upper corporate needs to delegate clients and projects throughout the company if there's going to be any chance for success.

    Pros

Competitive pay. Good union benefits. Laid back and no micromanagement.

    Cons

Management is to laid back and lack integrity. Really slow for me and haven't had the chance to utilize my skills on a consistent basis.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to detail. Know your people and utilize them affectively.

I worked at URS Corporation (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great group of people, interesting work, opportunities to collaborate with other departments and offices, opportunities to develop skillsets (although independently, don't expect support)

    Cons

Horrendous disconnect between upper management and technical staff, felt very powerless as a junior staff over my fate at the company, little opportunity for advancement, terrible morale by the time that I left, definitely some borderline illegal labor practices, empty promises about raises/promotions

    Advice to Management

Things have probably changed drastically since I left, with the AECOM takeover, but things were definitely not trending in the right direction. There were a number of business groups within URS that it seemed very clear upper management didnt understand given their focus on large federal/defense contracts.

I have been working at URS Corporation (More than a year)

    Pros

Since new management has taken over the atmosphere has changed. Management actually cares about us and how we are doing day to day as well as training. We can go to them with out fear of losing our jobs.

    Cons

the commission should of stayed the same due to the fees being different for every hospital makes it hard for some of us to make it per month. instead of monthly commission may be it should be quarterly so that everyone can receive something based on what we bring in. or give everyone a raise to make this job a compete with other jobs with good benefits.

    Advice to Management

    keep up the good work

My question is an employee passed away and services are in the weeks coming, and we were told that we had to take vacation time when we are only working half the day and the other want to take UVP to not get paid for the 4 hours but under this circumstances majority of the department will be attending the funeral services, can this be forced?
