    Pros

Interesting work, abundant work, opportunities to travel

    Cons

It's a big box company, hard to get noticed. Work hard and produce quality products and you will move up.

I worked at URS Corporation (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great group of people, interesting work, opportunities to collaborate with other departments and offices, opportunities to develop skillsets (although independently, don't expect support)

    Cons

Horrendous disconnect between upper management and technical staff, felt very powerless as a junior staff over my fate at the company, little opportunity for advancement, terrible morale by the time that I left, definitely some borderline illegal labor practices, empty promises about raises/promotions

    Advice to Management

Things have probably changed drastically since I left, with the AECOM takeover, but things were definitely not trending in the right direction. There were a number of business groups within URS that it seemed very clear upper management didnt understand given their focus on large federal/defense contracts.

I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I was with URS before they were merged with AECOM. I was in the Federal Services Division, and they were an excellent company to work for. I'm not sure if things have changed much since the merge, But while I was with them they were very ethical, took care of their employees and rewarded good performance. Good pay and decent benefits.

    Cons

Can't think of any bad things to say. Benefits seemed like they could have been a little better (health care) but given the circumstances they were probably as good as could be. It is still a business.

    Advice to Management

Keep the URS culture in AECOM.

    Pros

I worked with the most amazing people on a FGD project. It was by far the best job I have ever had. I learned so much and truly enjoyed my work!

    Cons

Unexpected lay off in January, ruined my hopes of seeing this project through til the end and witnessing the start up of the scrubbers.

I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Well-defined and supported project management services. Management encouraged off-site employee gatherings get acquainted and celebrate achievements.. Great people to work with.

    Cons

Yearly employee review process was archaic and not particularly helpful to anyone. IT support was slow or unresponsive at times for internal users. Problems with internet access to some internal company web sites or applications was not uncommon.

    Advice to Management

Improve downstream communication with non-supervisory personnel. (regarding opportunities and or initiatives the company is involved in).
Expand the types of industries supported with project management services.

I have been working at URS Corporation full-time

    Pros

Flexible work schedule but that is really about it

    Cons

Poor management oversight, lack of VP support who run bids, lack of accountability overall...no decent raises...
Also, the people where I work are NOT friendly whatsoever, that includes contracts director, business managers, subcontracts people. They all act very cliquish, very juvenile...no team work but lots of pointing fingers if something is wrong....
Also, took another day of holidays so we are down to only 8 and reduced PTO....guess I should stop there.

    Advice to Management

Listen to those who can make improvements. Spread the raises to the high performers rather than to the non performing VPs....and there are numerous.
When you are challenged, don't cave but step up and do the right thing regardless of who is whining.
