I have been working at URS Corporation full-time

    Pros

The URS/AECOM company structure is incredibly diverse with amazing resources. The ability to professionally address all your clients needs is virtually all-encompassing. Having accounting, billing, and legal resources takes some of the stress of the business demands off of the technical staff. The opportunities can be endless for the right individuals. Flexible hours, benefits, and training.

    Cons

The large structure removes your ability to really make an true impact in the company. You are truly a number, and not even necessarily an employee number but a "percent billable" number. It is all about making what the stockholder's see look good. The amount of unnecessary paperwork and business steps that the Project Managers have to go through to prove a project is progressing in a healthy manner creates a burden on the project bottom line because of the huge amount of time that it takes to "prove" it.

    Advice to Management

Your employees are people and you biggest asset. Listen to them. The structured benefit program and salary prohibits duly rewarding outstanding performers.

I have been working at URS Corporation full-time

    Pros

Coworkers are really nice, flexible schedule, you meet people from other industries, and get a feel of how/why state government operates the way that they do.

    Cons

Benefits aren't great, no bonuses, no reason to do better than the minimum work required, as promotions do not come by very often and raises are minimal.

    Advice to Management

Local management is doing great, upper management should consider the "smaller people" more.

I have been working at URS Corporation full-time

    Pros

Flexible work schedule but that is really about it

    Cons

Poor management oversight, lack of VP support who run bids, lack of accountability overall...no decent raises...
Also, the people where I work are NOT friendly whatsoever, that includes contracts director, business managers, subcontracts people. They all act very cliquish, very juvenile...no team work but lots of pointing fingers if something is wrong....
Also, took another day of holidays so we are down to only 8 and reduced PTO....guess I should stop there.

    Advice to Management

Listen to those who can make improvements. Spread the raises to the high performers rather than to the non performing VPs....and there are numerous.
When you are challenged, don't cave but step up and do the right thing regardless of who is whining.

I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great working location. Building was downtown. Nice working where everything was walking distance. Lots of eateries, events, gyms, and bars around. Company offers great benefits.

    Cons

Parking was always an issue. URS had a parking lot next door but employees had to pay for parking. There were several other lots in the neighborhood but those were a bit pricey.

    Advice to Management

Talk to employees more about what updates are happening within the company. Offer more training and advancement for employees. Listen more to what your employees' goals are.

I worked at URS Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Good pay and training opportunities.

    Cons

Since being bought out by AECOM lack of opportunity for being carried over to new projects once current job ended. 25 years experience didn't seem to matter with new company.

    Advice to Management

AECOM should look at past URS employees as a possible asset.
