I worked at URS Corporation for more than 3 years

    Pros

URS cares about their employees, they take an extreme amount of pride in what they build.

    Cons

There are always those few in upper management that take their positions too far. Good, hard working, knowledgeable people sent out the door for disagreeing with them.

I worked at URS Corporation for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great group of people, interesting work, opportunities to collaborate with other departments and offices, opportunities to develop skillsets (although independently, don't expect support)

    Cons

Horrendous disconnect between upper management and technical staff, felt very powerless as a junior staff over my fate at the company, little opportunity for advancement, terrible morale by the time that I left, definitely some borderline illegal labor practices, empty promises about raises/promotions

I worked at URS Corporation full-time

    Pros

Some of my managers and co-workers were extremely talented. The high-pressure environment of our office trained me to be an efficient and skilled worker.

    Cons

Profits drive all the work, which makes safety and morale second and third in the minds of managers. Very heavy and unresponsive administrative/upper management system that some exploited for personal gain (manufacturing grievances against various employees to leverage position changes, creative accounting to imply individuals were more productive than the finished product bore out).

I have been working at URS Corporation for more than 3 years

    Pros

    It's a job only.

    Cons

They are not really interested in their employees. Upper management is only interested in deadlines and could care less about the amount of stress the employees endure. No job is secure with the managers.

"Great Employees and Clients but Upper Management Lacks Business Sense and Are Out of Touch"

I worked at URS Corporation full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Worked with great people and had great clients who were very satisfied with a job well done and a level of performance which exceeded their expectations. Pay and benefits were not bad but were being reduced.

    Cons

Too many to mention but here goes: 1. Upper management, especially office managers, who did nothing to promote business, stayed in their office, did the usual bean counting (calculating sold time), and had absolutely no client billable work. 2. Prior to the July 2014 AECOM acquisition, URS initiated the Great Place to Work scam which did nothing to increase employee morale and retention. Of course, if URS was being managed correctly to begin with it would not have been forced to be sold to a company with a lower employee rating score than URS! 3. Poor understanding of business development by upper management as well as peers within the office. Sharing of client marketing opportunities mostly a one way street (no cooperation) and lack of support from the office manager allowed this practice to continue. 4. Too much bureaucracy and red tape which hindered our business. Based on the AECOM employee reviews, expect this to continue and get worse. 5. Forced to use personal time for training, proposal preparation, project management and other non-billable tasks to meet office sold time goals. No time to decompress in the evening and weekends. 5. No spot or annual bonuses. Expect things to get worse after the AECOM infestation is complete in 2016. AECOM has invested significant funds to acquire and transform URS and the stock holders have to be kept happy. Guess where the cuts will come from to pay for this? There are plenty of other firms out there to continue your career. Don't overlook the small firms managed by people who know the importance of retaining a happy workforce and how to develop business.

I have been working at URS Corporation full-time

    Pros

The people for the most part are friendly and laid back. Good work/life balance. Heavy workload means always something to do and some job security.

    Cons

Upper management is very focused on how billable you are, not good with communicating new processes.

I have been working at URS Corporation full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Ability to interact directly with clients, very good stability since the company is so big. People you work with are down to earth.

    Cons

Not too much vertical growth if you are a younger employee. A lot of upper management are there because they are connected with other employees. For the difficulty of work, not too many monetary perks.

I worked at URS Corporation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits, but hourly wages can be pretty average for a city like San Francisco.

    Cons

Lots of people with big job titles and few practical experience. Upper management can be very rude, get ready to be micromanaged and questioned.
