I worked at US Airways full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Pay & benefits are good
    The customers are great

    Cons

They lacked teamwork and would argued over who should do which tasks.
Since they have been there since America West so I don't see it improving any time soon.

I never got the free travel since I was new.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps some team building courses would help - and defining who does what.

I worked at US Airways as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Free domestic flights for unfilled seats
    -Less than an hour commute
    -Interesting field of work
    -Occasional opportunity for travel

    Cons

    -Unpleasant work community
    -Limited opportunities for engineers

Overall, with this experience in engineering I was ready to switch out of engineering as a major. Coworkers were unpleasant and unmotivated and the work was just sorting through engine data in a poorly lit room. Moving on to a full time position would have resulted in mediocre benefits and mediocre pay. The company really relies on the free domestic flights as a bonus, but it's usually not worth using because they pack the flights so much and you get bumped off at the last second.

    Advice to Management

Develop the co-op program to be more than just sitting around hoping there's enough work to do that semester. I ended up sitting around 80% of the time because my manager didn't have enough work in the department to use me.

I worked at US Airways (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great Flight Benefits and station agreements were awesome

    Cons

It's a large corporation and you are just a number to them, they don't know you personally and nor do they care!

    Pros

Nothing positive to say about US Airways.

    Cons

Management and workers extremely rude and negative. Us Airways does not provide any support for their employees or travelers. US Airways does not have a style or appearance with the worst customer service. It tends to hire only rude and unfriendly people.

I worked at US Airways full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Almost free flights (you have to pay for first class). Discounts on other things like cruises.

    Cons

Always dealing with upset customers. The Charlotte operations is always running like crap so good days are few and far between. You are not provided with the proper tools or authority to take care of the customers. Most employees are nice to each other but always drama with some. They do not care about any other work or your home life. They pay rock bottom and want you to have the dedication of a 100k salary job.

    Advice to Management

Show appreciation to your employees (management and agent) and not only speak to them about negative issues.

I have been working at US Airways full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flight Benefits as with any airline, Health, Dental and Vision Plan, friendly co-workers.

    Cons

A 120 day training probation period, only 3 occurrences allowed. Don't get sick or you're fired, which is inevitable because employees come to work sick (contagious) for fear of losing their jobs. Attrition is high and the company. You aren't represented by the union until after 120 days and low pay compared to other airlines.

    Advice to Management

Change your 120 day probationary training period to recognize extenuating circumstances. Employees work hard to get through training only to get fired due to circumstances beyond their control.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your stations and actually get them the help they need.

    Pros

    Flight Benefits and decent coworkers.

    Cons

Long hours and horrible pay. Management does not care and won't train you properly. You'll be left to teach yourself and when you are confused they will get impatient.

    Advice to Management

    Practice leadership
