I worked at US Airways full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flight benefits - if you use them. Cheaper cost of living in AZ and Tempe is a great little city. Some of the other employees are fun to hang out with. US Airways has decent brand awareness in this town (keep in mind I didn't say brand equity - it's not well-liked, just well-known).

    Cons

Cheap company - you're often overworked because your department is understaffed. Upwards movement is highly political, not meritocratic - you better pucker up. This is also a company with no imagination because margins are tight and senior leadership is very cheap so only bottom-line driven decision-making has any room at the company. They don't care about the high employee turnover so your pay WILL be low.

    Advice to Management

I have no advice to give management. They need to be excised - plain and simple. Legacy airlines don't care much for their employees and they still care more than US Airways does. Doug Parker is pathetic. His legacy is meaningless and he will be remembered as such.

I worked at US Airways full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

travel, co-workers, a sense of camaraderie through training.

    Cons

way too many nasty senior mamas that think that they can assert their dominance over the newbies coming in. They brought newbies in for a reason.. to get rid of the old ones that no longer have a passion for what they do.

    Advice to Management

i had the BEST experience with my Inflight supervisor. He was extremely kind, understanding and helpful.

I worked at US Airways full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

people are great to work with. Flight benefits and Medical coverage are exceptional and position gives you otption to transfer/promote mostly anywhere within U.S.

    Cons

Very demanding hours and position is very stationary at desk. Since U.S. Airways purchased American Airlines, merger is somewhat hostile and very confusing to perform your job with ease. Hourly pay you can barely make ends meet if you are only financial provider in household.

    Advice to Management

Very subjective...Needs to get on same page regarding employee performance and company policies.

    Pros

    Family oriented, good travel benefits.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Pay employees what they are worth. Management needs to match similar call center pay rate so employees wont be living in poverty.

    Pros

Travel benefits are amazing! Co workers are great! Employees all get along very well, fun atmosphere where everyone is like a family.

    Cons

Management is horrible! They only look out for themselves. While I worked there me and many of my coworkers were paid just above poverty level. CEO and company execs, fought over giving us raises. While they reaped millions in annual bonuses.

    Advice to Management

The business is a people business, take better care of your human capitol

I have been working at US Airways full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Current usairways employees are great. Flight benefits are ok.

    Cons

The merger with AA is a disaster, cultures are far too different and AA personnel look down to the Usairways employees

    Advice to Management

Should have stuck with a winning solution in It instead of an IT organization that brought AA into bankruptcy, would not surprise me if it went that way once more.
