I worked at US Airways full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flight benefits - if you use them. Cheaper cost of living in AZ and Tempe is a great little city. Some of the other employees are fun to hang out with. US Airways has decent brand awareness in this town (keep in mind I didn't say brand equity - it's not well-liked, just well-known).

    Cons

Cheap company - you're often overworked because your department is understaffed. Upwards movement is highly political, not meritocratic - you better pucker up. This is also a company with no imagination because margins are tight and senior leadership is very cheap so only bottom-line driven decision-making has any room at the company. They don't care about the high employee turnover so your pay WILL be low.

    Advice to Management

I have no advice to give management. They need to be excised - plain and simple. Legacy airlines don't care much for their employees and they still care more than US Airways does. Doug Parker is pathetic. His legacy is meaningless and he will be remembered as such.

    Pros

Great Flight Benefits and station agreements were awesome

    Cons

It's a large corporation and you are just a number to them, they don't know you personally and nor do they care!

I worked at US Airways full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great flight benefits, medical benefits and mostly good people to work with in the IT Department. Easily able to change schedule and trade shifts.

    Cons

flight benefits are all stand by basis, the IT department has nepotism when hiring for upper level positions. HR is for the company and not for the employee, so beware if you need to go to HR with an issue. The pay is cut way down because they decided that the flight benefits out weigh the pay.

    Advice to Management

Compensate people for what they do and you will have better employees. Look into the nepotism within the departments and don't take a blind eye to the individuals that are seeking assistance from HR. Carefully review who you hire as managers and take a good look at the history with employees not just what they have achieved because taking you in the direction you need to go doesn't always depend on the management-... it also depends on your employees.

I have been working at US Airways

    Pros

Free flight benefits. Easy access to flights all over the US.

    Cons

If you are not into manual labor and dealing with the weather then this is not the job for you.

    Advice to Management

Managemeny is a bit different here because there are so many with this company. There is a manager for every 5 gates

I worked at US Airways full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Flight benefits are good, and the company as a whole is great. I was advised I was just in the wrong department.

    Cons

They pay is low for the hours they demand.

    Advice to Management

Its great to have longevity, but when the longevity stifles the ever changing industry, it can harm the environment. Some of the management has been there together for a long time. They form cliques and low key bully associates they dont like.
