I worked at US Army full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people you serve with, the different location you can move to, the different skills you can learn, chances for promotion

    Cons

Leadership, most senior level leaders care only about their careers and do very little to help those below them advance in their career

    Advice to Management

Go through your senior leaders and clear out the bad apples

I worked at US Army full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility and Autonomy offered to those in the Special Operations community

    Cons

Bureaucracy imposed from outside the Special Operations community

    Advice to Management

Continue to hold high standards as the priority over numbers.

I worked at US Army full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Stay motivated and promotions and responsibility comes fast. Free college, medical and insurance. Great friends and lots of training.

    Cons

At times too much training. Not enough home at times, deployments and STX/FTX can seem somewhat pointless and a waste of time.

    Advice to Management

    Plan a little better

I have been working at US Army full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Extremely challenging. Unique opportunities you can't get anywhere else. If you're physically fit and motivated you can pretty much do any job you set your mind to in this organization. Excellent training opportunities, free healthcare and dental.

    Cons

Careerism is rampant. Large bureaucracy incapable of adapting. Little to no choice of assignments and little to no choice of flexibility.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of HRC. Tie rank to position instead of tenure and allow personnel to apply for jobs in a free market rather than a central bureaucracy hammering square assignment pegs into round holes.

I have been working at US Army full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Can be a good job when you have the opportunity to do it. Be prepared for a lot of taskings that don't necessarily correlate with what you thought you signed up for. This can be either a good or bad thing depending on whether or not you like routine. If your a routine kind of person this may not fit for you.

Benefits are amazing. Very good for families.

    Cons

Deployments can be a drag depending on how often you get tagged to go. Basically if you have a family and absolutely value your time with them every day, this may not fit for you. Leadership changes a lot from people changing stations (PCS). A lot of new commanders and new senior NCOs coming and going.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the BMI. Too many strong soldiers getting discharged for being considered fat from a way outdated model. Basically do you want a military of stick boys or real men that can pound you into the ground.

I have been working at US Army full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This opportunity provided me with an opportunity to explore different levels of logistics, while providing years of experience in leadership. I am so glad I made the decision to join!

    Cons

Deployments, but that is part of the bargain to join.

    Advice to Management

Prepare Soldiers early for re entry back into the Civilian world. I recommend implementing a mandatory course mid career, in addition to the Soldier For Life Transition Training- toward the end.
