I have been working at US Army full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You meet and work with amazing people. You quickly develop a good camaraderie. You don't have to worry about health insurance. Pay is competitive.

    Cons

Not very accommodating towards families, from moving to taking away from your time. The mission is always first. This is to be expected when joining, however, a lot of time dumb leadership decisions require you to be away from your family more than is necessary.

    Advice to Management

When not prepping for a critical or highly important overseas mission, get rid of this culture that to be a better soldier you have to dedicate more time to the Army. When at home station, a soldiers time with their family should be the top priority.

I have been working at US Army full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people are the number one reason to be in the Army as a career. Like-minded individuals gravitate into great teams.

    Cons

The work-life balance can be a bit of a struggle, especially with the deployments. Some people manage to avoid those for their entire career.. not sure how they do that.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your Soldiers and they'll take care of you.
