I have been working at US Census Bureau full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some of the people are nice. Also, it has a good work/life balance as far as the ability to telework, the maxiflex schedule and also the compressed work schedule.
    Benefits are good.

    Cons

Outside of that, there's not much more that is positive.
The people are sometimes nice but you can't blame them because everyone is dealing with their own issues. Management walks around every now and then. Don't expect a smile though because you won't get one.

The office I work has very low morale and a very high turnover rate.
There are no growth opportunities because just about ALL the jobs are pre-selected. Don't let the fact that you see it on USAJOBS fool you. You make the cert, come in for an interview and realize the person who got the job has no where near your qualifications or on the job experience.

    Advice to Management

Hire based on skills. Provide upward mobility path.

I have been working at US Census Bureau part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Office environment.
    Laid back culture.
    Solid base pay.
You get to work in the city acquire transferable skills.

    Cons

    Directionless
No competition, drive, or goals to speak of.
Supervisors neglect to train clerks leaving us in the dark when respondants or potential employees ask hard questions. Hard to move from part time to full time. Hard to find a purpose in what you're doing. You wonder if half of these jobs even need to exist or if they can't be done by interns.

    Advice to Management

Let us in deeper. I have worked here for a year and as much as you insist that our work is important, i don't see it. What are our goals? How do our systems work?
