    Pros

lots of travel, housing allowance, exciting job, technology on the job is very nice, 30 days of vacation a year.

    Cons

Leadership can be lacking, coworkers can be irritating, vacation is hard to get in the summer, responsibility can be overwhelming.

    Advice to Management

listen to the enlisted, most Sector level and above officers have no clue what is going on.

    Pros

Great atmosphere with a tight knit group and great personalities. The leadership/command are amazing.

The C4IT service Center is under immense change, causing much confusion and discord among its members. Some would say it's "Broken".

    Advice to Management

Personnel and Leadership great, so the focus should be on Mission Success and Organization.

I worked at US Coast Guard full-time

    Pros

As one of the 5 military branches ad part of Homeland Security, the Coast Guard has 11 mission areas ( search and rescue, law enforcement, ice operations, drug interdiction, etc) that really make a difference in enforcing US laws and help keep American citizens safe. This made me proud to be a member of the Coast Guard organization.

    Cons

One of the major cons is that you have to move every 3-4 years. This makes it hard on spouses who try to build up seniority in companies.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to the junior enlisted as they often have good input/suggestions on how to improve business practices.

    Cons

Change never stops, people and policy need time to see unintended results before moving to next change

    Advice to Management

    Stop changing

I have been working at US Coast Guard (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This is a small service where each member is valued. Unit types are small creating close bonds with meaning full duties. Our missions have a direct impact on the safety and security of our nation. You are in total control of your career, and you are encouraged to improve upon yourself through education, advancement, certifications and leadership. The job it self can be very exciting.

    Cons

There are very few! Moving every 2-4 yrs can be problematic to some. If you suffer from sea sickness perhaps this is not the job for you.

    Advice to Management

Maintain our traditions despite the ever changing world outside the gate. Continue to trust in your people as we have not let you down yet.
