    Pros

-High potential to be stationed in some ideal locations throughout the U.S
-Opportunity to be trained in some cool things (all depending on what kind of unit you go to and the responsibility they put on their non-rates)
    - Some units like a small boat station or an air station may award you BAH making your annual salary nearly double (don't count on it though)
    - More times than not you will go to medical that is not a Coast Guard medical center (probably navy/marine core)

    Cons

    - Work/Life balance
    - Deployments are short most times (1-4 months) but will likely be frequent if you are attached to a deployable unit
    - special treatment to certain members
    - double standards
    - unless you go one of the office type jobs (YN) there is not a lot of rates that will grant you training to carry you over to civilian life.

    Advice to Management

Maintain team cohesiveness in the lower enlisted ranks by giving non-rates more responsibility and ensuring members do not abuse rank by explicitly detailing out each member's given responsibilities to carry out while on duty throughout the unit.
