    Job Security and Satisfaction. USCG members work very well together to achieve mission success.

    Not being able to choose where you live or are deployed.

    Job with a purpose. Full medical coverage. Great educational benefits. High functioning, dynamic team environment.

    Cons

    You get moved around the country every few years whether you like it or not. You're a member of the executive branch, so if you dislike the current administration you're out of luck.

    People first.

    Working with the Coast Guard is rewarding. BAH is not taxed. Great post college job.

    There are some great leaders and some leaders that not to be more responsive to 360 feedback.

    Pros

    You can promote as high as you want, they have tuition assistance that pays for most of your college. Plus you can get the post 9/11 Gi bill.

    Cons

    The CG needs to get modern cutters to support the Coast Guard members and its missions, this will improve the habitability of its crew.

    Pros

    Great benefits, great people. I enjoyed my work as an information tech for 13 years. I had many great experiences over that time.

    Cons

    Sometimes policy gets in the way of getting the job done efficiency, but it is the government so you have to expect that.

    The Coast Guard is like a huge family - very caring and everyone supports each other. Pay and benefits are great.

    Deployments, moving when you don't necessarily want to.
