Pros
This job is great! I’m able to set my own hours, usually only working 4 hours a day for 20 hours a week. Beginning pay is average, with raises. I love interacting with moms and babies and helping facilitate good breastfeeding education in the community. Travel pay for trainings, meetings and client visits. Great team of people and no micromanaging. Training is informative and there is always one to answer questions. Work phone and computer provided Great work/life balance Most places, you can take your baby to work with you! Possibility of advanced certification courses
Cons
No benefits Current COVID restrictions make it hard to do the job effectively Sometimes clients don’t take calls or just stop responding and your case load falls Not really room for advancement-but you can get better certs

I really enjoy my job at HHS. What I like best is the interesting work combined with the opportunity to help people. As with many government positions, job security is good and there is a lot of life-work balance.
Cons
In the regional offices (versus the DC headquarters) there is limited room for advancement. Also, the pay is a lot less than in the private sector.
