I worked at US Foods full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits. Nothing else, none, nada, you can't run fast enough away. Ok some customers are alright. Oh yea work nights, holidays, weekends, vacations

    Cons

No life, high stress, what used to be decent pay is now laughable, on call 24/7, the big wigs don't care, there's not a TM out of Fort Mill that's not looking for another job, high expectations with nothing lucrative to show for it

    Advice to Management

Get ready for the walk out....

I worked at US Foods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits, pay, time off, holiday pay and floaters, great location, awesome colleagues, chef on site and cooked often, employee engagement events !!

    Cons

Definitely a color barrier with the Memphis location. If you weren't white, you were less likely to get promoted into a management position. When I left a few months ago, there were 2 black man out of 70 that were on the sales team and internally there were two black women out of 10 that were in salaried positions. Growth potential is bleak in that regard but I don't believe that would be true at other locations. Many of the employees were hard workers but I am privy to at least 3 separate incidents of more qualified African Americans overlooked at the company.

    Advice to Management

Promote people in positions that know and can perform the job as opposed to those who are not and attain the title due to their race alone.

I have been working at US Foods full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Stable Company with widespread locations.

    Cons

Usually they know who they are going to hire before they even list a position.

    Advice to Management

Reward the employees who have stuck with you through buy outs, owner changes and mergers....or lack there of :) with promotions before looking at the newbies or even worse going outside the company.

    Advice to Management

I worked there 11 plus years,I decided to quit cause I was not being properly treated and the union would not help me cause I am not gay,but I been trying to get another position with the competition and they are waiting on a reference and verification of employment,it's been almost a month they been waiting on this form,it's have not worked there in two months, but yall do not discriminate, you will not verify my employment or give me a reference after all the work I put in,you are denying me the right to earn a living,I have lost a few things because of us foods, believe me you shall to,I am coming

I have been working at US Foods full-time

    Pros

It's a paying job with medical coverage

    Cons

Benefits are terrible, it takes seven years to gain three weeks of vacation. Days do not carry over into next year. After centralization of departments into RSC, local divisions are extremely hostile to new employees, it does not feel like you are working for the same company. Local branches are plagued with poor business practices, archaic systems and overall unprofessional attitudes and lack of experience. Training was poor and learning aides were not written from the point of view of someone who was new to the job. Overhaul the training procedure instead of using people who come in and just read off slides.

    Advice to Management

Train the local divisions to be up to speed on best business practices. Change the vacation policy to a more competive plan. You will lose employees to other jobs with better benefits. Reduce hostility at local divisions who are angry over the new system in place and centralization at RSC.

    Pros

    -15% Stock Purchase Discount
    -Bonus Potential
    -Runzheimer Auto Allowance
    -Flexibility
-Company is poised for future growth.
    -Excellent culture
-Investing in employee and customer technology
-Strong Executive Leadership team at corporate office.

    Cons

-Vacation offer lacks other Fortune 500 companies.
-Need a strong business development team in my market.
-Need a development plan for strong leaders.

    Advice to Management

-Executive management and market leadership should be in the market more. They should be visiting with our top customers and showing them appreciation. Round tables with TMs and DSMs would be appreciated in markets where there are known and vocal culture issues.
