I worked at US Marine Corps full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits and pay. The Military is one of the VERY few industries that will allow growth without ANY furthered education; andGREATLY reward education even received online.

    Cons

Treated like a child most of the time, and the majority of coworkers and leaders are uneducated individuals. Because the Military promotes regardless of education, the Military ranks are full of people who are under the impression that their linear experience makes them life experts.

Moving and travel is AWESOME, buuuuut, its rarely at an opportune time!

    Advice to Management

Train leaders in modern interpersonal relation skills, and encourage innovation rather than 'checks in boxes'.

I worked at US Marine Corps full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There's too much to list, but the Marines create professionals with outstanding leadership traits.

    Cons

The promotion system is supposed to be fair, but really it's based on the needs of the "needs of the Corps." There are many Marines that deserve promotion and don't get it, and many that get it and don't deserve it.
