I have been working at US Marine Corps full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My experiences in the Marine Corps far surpassed my expectations. I was looking for a challenge, and the Marine Corps gave me that and more. It unequivocally made me a better person. The relationships that I made with the Marines around me are what makes the experience unique, nowhere else will you find a more closely knit community. I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve our nation and those around me.

    Cons

Processes and systems are extremely inefficient. Marines should be focused on readiness, but all too often we get bogged down with antiquated technology or layers of bureaucracy, which some confuse with quality control.

    Advice to Management

The most important part of any organization is it's people. Allocating time to morally and mentally develop the force is what will strengthen it. The farsighted goal of looking beyond the numbers game and building a team of reputable people is what will increase retention and allow the organization to be more selective in choosing those for promotion.
