      Pros

See the world, live in interesting locations for a few years at a time, learn valuable skills, job security, great benefits/retirement plans, can be quite an adventure. Too many to list.

      Cons

You have to give up some freedoms many civilians take for granted, but it's worth it IMO. While you can negotiate your duty stations at times, you ultimately have to live where they send you for at least a few years typically. You will likely deploy one to three times during a 4 year enlistment, and spend a lot of time training for deployment during the time between deployments, so you have to spend a considerable amount of time away from your family. The first few years as E-1 to E-4 can be some of the toughest for a few reasons, but after that it starts getting better for most people.
