I worked at US Small Business Administration full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Opportunities to gain lead experience very quickly.

      Cons

It is very much feast or famine. If there is a disaster you will be working very long hours. If there is no disaster the hours will drag by.

      Advice to Management

      A little more transparency

I worked at US Small Business Administration full-time

      Pros

Very good, multi tasked job. Great with people, good working team members. Salary was excellent.

      Cons

It is an interim type of position where you nay or may not be called back after a natural disaster strikes.

      Advice to Management

You really don't need team leaders, but a call center for field reps to make use of. Team leads not really what motivates the field reps. Its fellow team members or the top level and call center responses that really help.

I worked at US Small Business Administration full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Helping disaster victims rebuild their lives; co-workers and managers are truly there to help both the disaster victims and the employees; and, making friends with both disaster victims and SBA employees. You literally learn something new every day, so the job is NEVER boring. You are not micro-managed; you are given your files/Borrowers to work with and it is your responsibility to move the files forward to quick disbursement...

      Cons

A lot of information is thrown at new employees; however, training simply cannot prepare you for the nuances of every disaster victim you work with as no two are alike (which can also be a pro). Just when you think you are getting a grasp on everything, something new pops up! lol

      Advice to Management

Don't stay in your offices as much; take a break, walk around and get to know your employees. Even though employees are all considered "temporary", most employees are there for an extended period of time. Team Leads need to be less abrasive with new team members and not assume we know everything; especially since all Team Leads really do have their own way of doing things.

I have been working at US Small Business Administration full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Working with business owners is rewarding.

      Cons

The office management is terrible and they treat us like children, there is no trust and they micro mange. The rules are constantly changing and workload is not reasonable. Telework is limited to one day a pay period. They play favorites with the employees. They do not care about employee concerns. They are always hiring for this position because turn over is so high.
