I have been working at USAA full-time

    Pros

Great job, big on team environment, great pay, great management and never had a day where I came to work unsure of my job

    Cons

Can get extremely busy at times, sometimes there's inconsistency on job practices. Some processes don't make since. Long work day.

    Advice to Management

Keep the employee's involved, hire more employees and train better. Update computer systems and keep the members happy.

I worked at USAA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, medical dental, vision, healthy lifestyle bonus. The equipment was state of the art and the facilities were nice. The management staff was hit or miss some were fantastic, others were very average.

    Cons

Work environment was extremely fast paced. Those who were able to keep up were expected to assist coworkers yet no additional recognition or bonus was offered for this not were you able to take credit for the work. Senior management was very disconnected and did not understand the job that was being done nor how to coach those within in the job.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and address their concerns.

I have been working at USAA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They definitely want to see you grow. Great benefits, great pay, tuition assistance, and the Chesapeake office is beautiful. I would recommend this job to anyone looking to get their career started.

    Cons

Claims call volume is heavy. One adjuster could have 150-200 claims at a time. Very little time between calls to work your claims.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to your member contact folks! The new changes have been great! When we're happy, our members receive the great service they deserve.

I worked at USAA (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Nicely paid
    Benefits are okay
The campuses are beautiful. I appreciate the onsite childcare and gym, especially while my husband was on deployment.

    Cons

I applied to help "member" with their losses during times of catastrophe. I did not sign up to sell anything. When someone is calling in about a loss, such as car accident or home flooding, that is not the time to try to get them to purchase life insurance or an additional policy, especially when the claim is not even covered.

    Advice to Management

Remember that you are only as strong as you treat your team.

    Pros

Great company to work for! Usaa believes in a healthy work life balance! Great leadership and pay

    Cons

Very busy which makes it hard to work your claims. You are responsible for your workload while also taking calls on other peoples files all while adhering to a specific schedule

    Pros

Great matching 401k: match dollar dollar up to 8 percent of your salary.

    Cons

The workload is unreal. They want you to take new claims AND handle existing claims in between calls which is never.

    Advice to Management

Stop putting band aids on problems. Sit with an employee at their desk for a full week and see how things really are

I worked at USAA full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

401k is one of the BEST, Health Insurance is good but used to be much better, bonuses at the beginning of each year averaged from 12 to 20% of your salary based on company earnings.

    Cons

Very good and very bad managers at USAA. Whether or not you liked your job depended a lot on who you worked for.
