I have been working at USAA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazing benefits-401k match of 8% dollar for dollar plus an additional 3%-9% given to you by the company. 18 weeks paid maternity leave for birth moms and 12 weeks for non birth parents starting 7/1/17. Free financial/insurance reviews on company time. Flexible work schedules and work at home positions. Opportunity for advancement. Beautiful workplace, awesome gym, discounted healthy food in cafeteria. On-site childcare. Ethical company. Military-friendly. Holiday and annual bonuses. They do a LOT for their employees. I will never go anywhere else.

    Cons

Dealing with coworkers they push through training even though they don't have what it takes to live up to USAA's customer service standards or they don't catch on fast enough-makes the rest of us look bad when we have to fix their mistakes.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to get rid of people in training who just don't cut it. It just creates more work for the rest of us and makes USAA look bad.

I worked at USAA (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, no issues with management, great work environment and company culture.

    Cons

Very few opportunities in Tampa, be very careful with what you say as well, politics can play a large role in promotions. One of the best sales reps on the whole floor upset the wrong manager and ended up leaving after being refused promotion for 2 years. Also, lots of odd schedules, can really suck.

    Advice to Management

Expand opportunities to work from home and available positions in tampa.

I worked at USAA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Many great benefits, pretty interior and exterior, pay was decent

    Cons

The culture was very negative, co-workers were extremely unfriendly on my particular team,

    Advice to Management

Lighten up - the environment was so harsh that I ended up leaving months later and do not regret that decision at all, wish I had

I worked at USAA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Leadership listens to employee concerns.
Ample overtime if you neee extra money.
    Bonus
    Nice Gym on campus
    Great co-workers

    Cons

    Pay
    Health insurance isn't great
Every job is pretty much like working in a call center.
Don't have time to properly investigate claims.
They would rather pay than get a social media complaint.
They use your FMLA against you.
    Hard to advance.

    Advice to Management

Pump the brakes and listen to your 20+ year members. So often I would listen to them say USAA is not the company it used to be. Stop outsourcing because it's very poor quality service. Stop letting people take advantage of you by letting them overcharge knowing you will pay it. Be the USAA you used to be and stop worrying about making the membership grow and profits. When the membership opened up you couldn't handle it and it has resulted in poor customer service experience to a lot of members.

    Pros

Amazing company mission, and core values, with opportunities to grow.

    Cons

none really, maybe schedules for some folks, but there are a good amount of options overall.

    Advice to Management

embrace millennial's and technology as the two continue to grow in the workplace, even if they make you uncomfortable

I worked at USAA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

great benefits available the day of hire. Great PTO procedures. Wonderful buildings with amazing security. Great cafeterias and break rooms. Free gym. Locker room, etc. Great training.

    Cons

Micro-managed to the extreme. You are tied to your phone. Your breaks and lunches are scheduled for you. If you get stuck on the phone with a customer past your scheduled break town, that counts against you. If you go to the bathroom while you are scheduled to be on the phone, that counts against you. You get the feeling that you are just another number in literally tens of thousands of employees. I've heard that some managers are great but mine was horrible. You are supposed to have weekly "coaching" sessions. Mine was canceled 6 weeks in a row. I also received 0 support from my manager. He would have ME call back the people who requested to speak to a manager, he did not help me with questions that I had, only directed me elsewhere. I did not feel that I mattered in the least. At USAA they preach about how they care only about the military and their families that they do not "sale" and that is a lie. You are graded by how many times you offer a product. Meaning you are expected to offer a product EVERY phone call you receive. Yes, even someone who is just calling in to get a copy of their auto insurance card. The expectations for sales are too high and you are not offered commission to compensate for the pressure. Also, when you are hired, they paint a very pretty picture of how easy it is to move up and advance within the company. LIES. good luck. Good luck transferring to any job that is not phone based. They only offer those jobs in San Antonio. Any job posting you are literally competing with THOUSANDS of other candidates and favoritism is very obvious. Both my husband and my oldest brother are military and I wanted so badly to love it here. But I hated going to work every day. It was unbearable and I would never recommend working there to anyone that I loved.

    Advice to Management

I literally wouldn't even know where to start.
